In his famous dialogue, Republic, Plato said, “necessity is the mother of invention.” This simple claim has proven true throughout history. When the world needed a more efficient mode of transportation, Gottlieb Daimler invented the automobile. When people needed a convenient way to store and listen to music, Steve Jobs brought us the iPod. And when this cat’s food was stolen by a flock of unruly geese, his owner invented the world’s first jet ski for cats.
Unable to navigate the water otherwise, this cat needed a mode of transportation that could get him to his snack while keeping him dry. Plato would be proud to know that his words still ring true today, and that they helped one hungry cat explore the water on his own personal jet ski.
