This Cat Does Not Want Your Stupid Mail

Here’s one way to deal with junk mail.

A video posted on YouTube and Live Leak shows someone trying to deliver letters through a mail slot, but a cat on the other side is making the task extremely difficult.

The footage appears to have been recorded by a postal worker, although that’s not clear. It’s also not clear when or where the clip was filmed.

What is clear is that this kitty has a thing for the mail, in some cases trying to keep it out and in others, pulling it in:

The Science Behind Why Cats Meow Is Oddly Touching (And Very Surprising)

Everyone knows that dogs bark and cats meow, but we really didn’t know why. That’s what inspired this group of scientists to dig around and figure out what causes the cat’s meow.

The answer that they found is pretty flattering, and so surprising. When you learn the truth, you’ll never look at your feline friends the same way again.

That certainly explains a lot. Here’s what veterinarian Dr. John Bradshaw of Bristol University had to say:

The meow starts off as a kitten vocalization. It’s something they use in order to call their mothers over…the mother is very attentive to those meows. And then as the kitten grows up, it gradually stops meowing, presumably because it just stops working. The mother wants to wean the kittens and stops responding. A pet cat is constantly meowing at its owner. It’s a way of getting the owner’s attention.

Pretty cute, am I right? They’re just trying to talk to us!

Watching A Snow Bengal Kitten Become Friends With A Lab Puppy Is Way Too Precious

At Maplewood Bengals in New York, they raise Bengal kittens — and they’re insanely cute. These exotic cats are adorable on their own, but this particular kitty’s new best friend really ups the precious ante.

These two love playing together, and even though the puppy looks a little bit sleepy in the video below, it’s clear that this dynamic duo is prepping for a lifelong friendship.

It’s a shame that all BFFs can’t be this cute! I have a feeling that these two never fight like cats and dogs.

15+ Photos Of Animals Eating Thatll Make You Smile

It’s usually agreed that you need to eat to live and that living to eat might be a tad unhealthy. But look at these cute animals having a go at it! From the cute-yet-gruesome sight of bunnies eating strawberries (so that’s how Monty Python got inspired) to everyone except otters enjoying watermelons, it’s a zoological dinner extravaganza. We’ve made this list specifically for your enjoyment.

However, animal feeding is not as easy as it sounds. From the extremely nebulous rules on cats and lactose to the fact that dogs shouldn’t eat chocolate, you would do good to Google any relevant information before feeding that squirrel your sriracha-laden macaroni salad.

Someone Replaced Jurassic Park Dinosaurs With Cats, And Its Hilarious

We all know the premise of Jurassic Park. Humans manage to bring dinosaurs back to life and put them in a park before they escape and wreak all sorts of havoc on the world. Pretty cool idea, but also a pretty scary one.

But you know what would be even scarier? If it wasn’t giant prehistoric reptiles that mankind genetically recreated but giant domestic house cats! OK, so we know it doesn’t sound particularly scary, but just wait until you see the pictures. Forget Jurassic Park, this is Purrassic Park! (h/t: cheezburger)

22 Of The Fluffiest, Cutest Cats To Curb Those Frosty Winter Blues

The winter blues have finally set in. Sure, the days are “officially” becoming longer, but the weather is definitely also getting colder. In other words, there are few things that will get you out of your warm bed — food, work, and maybe showering are on the list.

If you’re like me, though, there is one thing that warms me up just thinking about it — a big, adorable, fluffy kitten. Get ready to feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

1. “First let’s get the bed all nice and warm for ya!”

2. She wants to get under the covers with you.

3. “Yas all of the chin scratches!”

4. Chewbacca, is that you?

5. They’re judging you because you don’t have fur like them.

6. Even ears can be super fluffy!

7. “You’re feeling verryy warm and cozy inside…”

8. “Put. Me. Down.”

9. This is as close to a blanket as you’ll find in the cat kingdom.

10. Wait, I was wrong.

11. So, so wrong.

12. They’re going to grow up to be majestic Maine coons!

13. “I fierce and fluffy! Fear me!”

14. No shame in her fluff game.

15. “What is cold? Ever thought about that?”

16. “Higher, human! I can’t see all my kingdom.”

17. Are you even real?!

18. He’s the cutest foot warmer that ever existed.

19. I don’t know where the cat ends and the comforter begins.

20. “Fine, you can touch it.”

21. All that fluff can get heavy!

22. That’s just a pillow with a tail, right?

Okay, that’s definitely not a cat, but this fluffy cow was too cute NOT to include!

I just have one thing to say…

This Cat With A Human-Like Face Is Going Viral, And We Cant Unsee It

Valkyrie is an adorable two-month-old Maine Coon kitten who just became the latest Internet star. Why? Well, she has a very ‘human’ face.

Tatiana Rastorgueva, the current owner of the baby Maine Coon shared a video and a few images of Valkyrie on her Instagram and people fell in love with the unusual kitten.

It’s not really clear what makes her face so ‘human-like’ – it might be her bone structure or her tiny, yet wise eyes.

Take a look at this truly unique beauty from Russia below.

Hilarious Photos Of Cat Falling In Love With A Heater During Cold Weather Will Make Your Day

It’s been pretty cold lately! With record-breaking low temperatures across much of the Northern Hemisphere, everyone is finding ways to keep warm and cozy from the freeze outside.

Japan is no different, with heavy snow in Tokyo bringing snowmen out on to the streets recently, and it’s not just the people who are feeling chilly! This is Busao the cat, and he just loves his heater. “Japan is so cold right now! All he wants is to warm up more,” Busao’s owner Ryuji Tan told Bored Panda.

To be honest, we think that perhaps he loves it just a little bit too much. In some of his pics, he seems to be almost worshiping the lamp as some kind of divine source of life, and we are pretty sure he has lost quite a few whiskers by flying too close to the sun!

Ryuji Tan adopted Busao from the streets of Ibaraki, where he lives. “Busao was originally a stray cat, he told Bored Panda. “I think that he is about 9 years old.” He regularly posts pictures of his beloved cat on InstagramFacebook and YouTube, so you can follow him there along with thousands of other Busao fans, he is popular in Japan and is starting to become known around the world too!

Oblivious to his fame, Busao’s contented look suggests that he will be spending the whole winter in exactly the same place. Cozy and warm right next to his beloved heater. If only we could do the same…

Scroll down below to check out Busao’s pics, and let us know what you think in the comments!

You’ll Feel Nostalgic When You See What These People Just Made For Their Cats

Cats are finicky creatures. While most dogs just blindly love you and everything you do for them, cats prefer to be impressed. I personally appreciate anyone who keeps their standards high, so I have a soft spot for felines (and the fact that they’re stunning doesn’t exactly hurt).

These cat parents know a thing or two about that. When they decided that their feline friends needed a cat complex to keep them entertained, they brought their favorite video game to life. Avid lovers of the Mario Bros. franchise, they created something incredible for their favorite kitties.

If you remember running Mario through those iconic tubes as a kid, you’ll appreciate what they pulled off.

Using simple materials, they recreated everyone’s favorite pixelated obstacles, and they all came together to form the most incredible cat complex of all time.

The best part is that these portals are fully functional. They really aren’t messing around.

Each portion is made of extremely lightweight birchwood, and the soft fabric that’s sewn onto the pipes helps cats get a firm grip when they start climbing around. Safety first!

Their kitties loved it so much that they decided to produce it and sell it online!

This Floor-Cleaning Cat Is The Purr-fect Housemate

Cats sometimes get a bad reputation for being lazy. Not this one.

The feline likes to help out around its owner’s home by cleaning the floor.

Video posted online shows the kitty pushing a towel back and forth across floorboards.

It then meows as if to say it’s a job well done, before walking away.

It’s unclear exactly when or where in Japan the clip was filmed, but it’s going viral this week.

Some viewers speculate the cat may just have been padding the towel, and it was coincidence the rag ended up being pushed around the floor.

The feline has some way to go before it reaches dog-like levels of helpfulness, however.

This pup knows to wipe the mud from its paws before entering the house, while this clever mutt can bring over an ice cold beer whenever it’s needed.

Bad kitty! Royal Mail warns family after cat attacks

(CNN)Bella the cat’s family says she’s always been a sweet and loving pet, but the kitty has apparently become a menace to the British postal service.

Matthew Sampson of Patchway, United Kingdom, said he got a letter from the Royal Mail warning that it had done a risk assessment and would stop delivering mail to their house in 14 days unless they did something to restrain their cat.
It turns out Bella attacks letters as they slide through the door’s mail slot. In the process, she nips and scratches the fingers of unsuspecting postmen and women.
Sampson said he has had Bella for about three years and only discovered the problem recently when their postman mentioned it to his partner, Laura Lowe.

“She’s a really nice cat and hasn’t bitten anybody,” Sampson told CNN.
It’s unclear if Bella hates the mail, or if she really, really likes the mail, but either way, something had to be done.
Fortunately, a amicable solution was reached in time.
Sampson is buying a new external mailbox. He said the Royal Mail offered to pay for it and apologized for the hassle.
“I didn’t expect an apology because at the end of the day, if my cat is injuring them, they are within their rights,” he said.
A spokesman for the Royal Mail says incidents involving cats are pretty rare, but animal attacks are a real risk for postal carriers. There were about 3,000 dog attacks on U.K. mail carriers between 2014 and 2015.
For now, the postal carriers of Pathway can breathe a little easier, and Bella will have to find something else to do with her days.

Man Buries His Cat, Only For It To Wander Back Into The Kitchen A Few Hours Later

In what must have been a particularly strange day, a local councillor buried his dead cat, only to have it turn up in his kitchen a couple of hours later.

(And no, this isn’t the start of some felinezombie apocalypse).

The story started as Matt Strong took to Twitter to share the sad news that his cat, Gus, had been killed in a hit and run accident:

But, as Matt would soon learn, the cat killed wasn’t Gus. Gus, along with his brother Ralph, wandered home, into thekitchen, just a couple of hours afterMatt had‘buried him’.

Probablythrilled that his cat was alive, and not buried in the garden, Matt did have one problem. As he pointed out on his Facebook page:

“Unfortunately this means I have someone’s dead cat buried in my garden.”

Pretty nobly, Matt decided that the cat’s body belonged with its owners, and so just a couple of hours after he had buriedit, he found himself digging up the grave, and taking the cat to a local vet.

This strange story has a happy ending for Gus and Matt, but our thoughts are with the family whose pet was killed today.

These Lions Turn Into Giant Kittens Whenever This Toy Comes Out!

They might not look it, but lions are really just big kittens at heart. Don’t believe us?

Well, these females at the Oregon Zoo are about to show you.

While they generally spend their days lazing around (sound familiar?), being fed at the same time, and never fearing for their safety, these beautiful lions still crave a little wild adventure now and then. In an effort to keep them alert and agile, workers at the zoo came up with a fun toy that plays on their feline instincts.

The fact that lions weigh in at over 250 pounds and can leap that far into the air proves Mother Nature wasn’t messing around when she created these amazing predators.

I guess they’re a little different from kittens after all…

I Got A Cat For My Sick And Grumpy Grandpa, And He Turned His Life Upside Down

I’ve been photographing my grandfather, Jiji, since I had no clue how to use a camera. One day, 94-year-old Jiji’s life was turned upside-down by Kinako the cat.

Since the War ended, for 64 years, Jiji commuted to his office, but in 2009 he was sent to the hospital. The doctor said he was sick. The once outgoing man gradually lost his interest in life and became grumpier than ever. It was around that time that I brought Kinako to live with us.

An extraordinary friendship gradually grew between the two. Who would have thought that a timid kitten would befriend a grumpy old man! The border between human and animal melts, just as shy Kinako melted Jiji’s heart.

10+ Amazing Cat Facts That You Probably Didnt Know

Did you know that a physicist once made his cat the co-author of his paper because he’d accidentally written “we” instead of “I” throughout his work and couldn’t be bothered to change it? Also, believe it or not, the British Government has a position called “Chief Mouser To The Cabinet Office” that can only be assigned to a cat. And although this may not surprise you, a study once proved that cats are more than capable of recognizing their owner’s voices, but simply choose to ignore it. She Heard Her Cat Meowing On The Balcony…Only To Find The Most Unusual Friend Sitting Next To Her

Perched on a ledge in Dutch Harbor in Unalaska, a small island on the Aleutian chain in Alaska, Grizzle the cat was simply minding his own business. That’s when someone special decided to drop in for a little afternoon chat…

And that someone was a bald eagle.

Amazing When the eagles are quietly on the balcony with the cats

Posted by Immortal Che Guevara on Friday, November 13, 2015

Despite what you may think, Grizzle was in no danger of being eaten. “These eagles are raised in a very unique environment,” said Facebook user Kimi Braun. “They are VERY used to humans, and routinely are found along railings, on pots, fences and other objects within touching distance of humans, foxes, cats, dogs. Food is also extremely abundant for them. It would be like hunting a deer in the middle of a Vegas buffet line.”

Thankfully, that kitty will live to befriend another eagle!

Study Reveals That Your Cat Is Basically A Tiny Lion

Your cat may be plotting to kill you. Thats what the headlines seem to be saying, at least, and although this isnt a particularly accurate statement (at all), some new research on the psychology of our favorite feline companions reveals that they may be far more neurotic and resistant to being ordered around than previously thought. The researchers have published their distinctly unusual findings in the Journal of Comparative Psychology.

Its not been a good year for cat owners. Previous research has indicated that not only does your pet see you as an inessential landlord, but they also tend to view us as idiotic, furless cats who cant hunt. This new study, led by the Bronx Zoo and researchers at the University of Edinburgh, has compared the domestic cat (Felis silvestris catus) to the Scottish wildcat (Felis silvestris grampia), clouded leopard (Neofelis nebulosa), snow leopard (Panthera uncia), and African Lion (Panthera leo), and has essentially concluded that domestic cats are like miniature lions in terms of their overarching personality.

Each of the studys species hasbeen given a variety of personality types from the Five-Factor Model. This type of psychometric categorization is normally used by some mental health professionals to describe human personalities, but here it’sbeen co-opted for more feline creatures. The researchers note that comparing human personality to non-human animals helps to improve our understanding of the evolution of certain psychological characteristics.

As you may have guessed, there are five categories: openness (general appreciation for new information and experiences), conscientiousness (roughly analogous to self-discipline), extraversion (breadth of experience, as opposed to depth), agreeableness (concern for social harmony), and neuroticism (tendency to experience stress and negative emotions), each with their own subsets.

Each of the chosen species was observed in captivity; the researchers categorized each of the hundreds of feline subjects affinity for each of the five personality types (and their subsets) on a seven-point scale. A domestic cat apparently shows dominance, impulsiveness (the negative equivalent to conscientiousness) and neuroticism exactly that of the African lion.

As the domestic cat evolved from the African wildcat, it was expected by the researchers that the Scottish wildcat and the domestic variant would show the most similar personalities, but no: youve got a tiny lion in your house. This does seem to suggest that cats are generally speaking quick-to-anger control-freaks that act without forethought.

There are some obvious limitations with this study, however: only cats in captivity were looked at, and the human personality structure may apparently fit primates, but it might not necessarily be compatible with cats.

Either way, none of this research suggests that your cat is plotting to kill you. Cats don’t want to bump you off, said lead researcher Marieke Gartner, from the University of Edinburgh, as reported by CNET. Although, based on this study, it looks like the Scottish wildcat with its mix of dominance, agreeableness, and conscientiousness mightmake for a more amiable pet.

Meet Thor, The Bengal Cat With Purrfectly Beautiful Fur

Thor The Bengal cat is one of those felines that look right into your soul and beyond. Just look at his emerald green eyes lurking from his beautiful sandy fur – is this even real?! The mighty kitty’s fur is so purrfect, even his tummy has spots! Could this cat BE more majestic? We don’t think so. Neither does the Internet as Thor has gone viral since his photos appeared online.

“I definitely feel like his servant!” Thor’s owner Rani Cucicov told Bored Panda. “Whenever he opens his mouth, we are ready to serve him, but I gotta admit that we get lots of love in place for it!”
